ALLIANCE – When you walk in you feel airy. The room is bright and modern.
A $100,000 renovation of the Alliance Country Club’s ballroom and ladies’ locker room has breathed new life into two areas that were once considered stale and stale.

Anna Strouble, director of marketing and memberships, said the ballroom still provided a spacious venue for events and receptions, but its old look deterred potential users.
Strouble said those looking for a bridal party site, in particular, weren’t interested.
“Nobody ever really said anything directly,” she said, “but I was definitely taking it back.”
The club, opened in 1911, has 291 members.
Strouble and General Manager Troy Grove approached board members with a proposal to upgrade the ballroom and ladies’ locker room, which doubles as a wedding hall, in early 2020.
Upgrades made during COVID
Next, COVID-19.
Strouble said the club took advantage of the COVID restriction canceling indoor gatherings and used that time to make the upgrades. “It was a good opportunity,” Grove said.
The ballroom features new tables, chairs, decor, lighting, flooring and chandeliers, and an upgraded terrace overlooks the 18-hole golf course.
Walls have been painted and feature stylish acoustic panels to dampen noise after wallpaper and carpeting have been removed.
“We did this project and everyone was so happy about it,” Grove said, “(Board) approved to continue in the ladies’ locker room.”
The dressing room received a similar treatment including new floors, lights and brighter walls.
“Sounds good,” Strouble said.
‘Hidden Gem’
Strouble said the new look, seen in photos posted on social media, has caught the eye and is hoping she turns into a rental.
“We’re kind of a hidden gem,” she said.
Strouble said the club had “more open dates” available than most wedding venues. It can also accommodate gatherings such as corporate events, golf outings and holiday parties.
Strouble said members can rent the facility for free. Non-members, with a member’s sponsorship, can rent the space for a fee.
