Arsenal say they may have to pay a club record fee to sign the Shakhtar Donetsk winger

Shakhtar Donetsk sporting director Darijo Srna has told Arsenal they will have to pay a huge fee to sign Mykhailo Mudryk.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with the winger in recent months, with Mikel Arteta keen to sign a striker to complement the team’s existing attacking options.

And when Shakhtar faced the same opposition last season, they received a standing ovation of the Bernabeu faithful when he was substituted, following his performance.

Mudryk spoke about his future in recent days, and said Ukrainian TV presenter Vlada Sedan – wife of Gunners star Oleksandr Zinchenko – on his views on Arsenal: “Yeah, I check them on MyScore [football scores app]and when they play, I can watch them.

“I watch them too. They are a very dynamic team in general, not only in controlling the ball, but also in scoring goals.”

Now the Shakhtar Srna legend has told Arsenal what they need to do to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.

Darijo Srna on Mudryk’s interest

Talk to AthleticismSrna said: “If someone wants to buy Mudryk, he has to pay huge amount of money. Otherwise, the club president won’t sell him.

“All clubs have to respect the president, respect Shakhtar and in the end they have to respect Mykhailo Mudryk who is one of the best players I have seen. The price is so high.”

He also referred to the sales of Anthony and Jack Grealish at Man Utd and City of Man respectively to justify the high asking price, and says that Mudryk is worth more than 100 million euros (about £87.75 million).

He explained: “The market decides the price – not me.

“Antony, Grealish, they are players of more than 100 M€ and, for me, Mudryk has no less quality than them. They are the last two transfers of the past year, roughly in the same positions .”
