The West Ham boss is desperate to bolster his central defensive ranks before the end of the month with Angelo Ogbonna out for the season and Kurt Zouma still not recovered from a hamstring tendon problem.
And it looks like we may have a great chance of doing so…
David Moyes targets Caleta-Car available in January
Marseille are set to cash in on the 6ft 4in centre-back this month, according to a report by The 10 Sports. He is at the end of his contract at the Stade Vélodrome in the summer of 2023.
So, after this month, its value will undoubtedly start to fall.
The Team claims the Croatian could be available for just £14million in January.
We think Caleta-Car would be a superb addition for West Ham for that kind of money.
Well-known football analysis and scouting website IBWM recently described Caleta-Car as “outstanding talent”.
He’s tall and dominant in the air and very comfortable with the ball at his feet as well.
The 25-year-old is a very strong all-round defender and he would improve the Hammers’ back line considerably.
In 11 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille this season, the Croatia international has averaged 1.2 tackles and 1.7 clearances per game. He also averaged 1.1 aerial duels per game and had an incredibly impressive 91.9% completion rate from 67.2 assists per game (Who scored).
If Moyes manages to sign Caleta-Car this month, we will be in great shape not only for the rest of this season, but for years to come.
£14m for the 25-year-old would be exceptional value and signing him seems like an absolute no-brainer for David Moyes.
