In another sign of spring, the Brush Lions Club and Brush American Legion Auxiliary Unit #68 held their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 9 at East Morgan County Library Park.
With the children separated into three age groups – 0-3, 4-6 and 7-10 – they eagerly waited to be released into their own area to chase down the treats. They found candies or plastic eggs with money or strips of paper with a price written inside.
This year, Eric Christensen and Walt Amack of Brush VFW Post No. 3551 added to the excitement with huge contributions, which solicited donations from more than 30 Brush companies and individuals, totaling more than $2,100 in cash and in gift certificates. This increased the candies from 2,000 coins to over 3,000 coins this year. The kids were also surprised to find prizes of $5 in plastic eggs, totaling over $300.
Brush Lions Club member Tom Hofmann said the huge donation will fund future Easter egg hunts for years to come.
“We are very grateful for all donations,” Hofmann said. “Brush is certainly a generous community!”
The Lions Club also thanked all of the businesses and individuals who sponsored the Easter Egg Hunt this year.
“This event would not have been possible without the support of our generous sponsors,” said Hofmann.
