MANCHESTER UNITED are in pole position to secure the signing of Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen
Sky Bet have the Red Devils as 4/6 favourites, just ahead of Brentford at 2/1.
The Danish star has shone in his 11 appearances for Brentford since joining in January, including scoring at Stamford Bridge in Chelsea’s 4-1 thrashing in April.
It looked like he would potentially make a return to Tottenham this summer when the North Londoners moved half the market to sign him.
The market has changed significantly in recent days and United have since moved into the lead to sign the midfielder.
Eriksen has had four assists for the Bees in his short spell back in the game, including two assists in his last three games.
Brentford was Eriksen’s first club since the midfielder collapsed on the pitch after suffering cardiac arrest during a Euro 2020 game in June 2021.

After being fitted with an implantable automatic defibrillator, which Serie A does not allow, his contract with Inter Milan was therefore terminated.
Brentford were just three points above the drop zone and had played more games than any team below them when Eriksen made his first start for them.
The west London side have won seven of the ten games Eriksen has started, securing a 13th place finish in the team’s first season in the top flight since 1947, surviving by 11 points.
Current Spurs boss Antonio Conte bought him when he was manager of Inter Milan and it looked like a reunion could be on the cards.
Eriksen has made over 300 appearances for Tottenham, collecting 69 goals and 90 assists and is now 4/1 to return to the north of the capital.
Newcastle are also reportedly impressed with Eriksen’s response to form and have taken a liking to the idea of the Dane donning his black and white stripes next season – but his price can be as high as 25/1 to land Eriksen.
Eddie Howe’s Magpies are looking to build on a very promising second half of the season by challenging for the European places next campaign.
Eriksen was linked with a move to Ajax when news emerged that he would no longer be allowed to play for Inter Milan.
They are still in the market to re-sign their former star but drifted until 16/1.
Then-Ajax boss Erik ten Hag has been named Manchester United’s new manager and is desperate to improve his side which finished sixth this season, 13 points off the top four.
