Club Brugge agree to sign Sheffield United star Sander Berge


Club Brugge have agreed to sign Sheffield United star Sander Berge, sources told Football Insider.

The Champions League club are expected to complete the capture of the 24-year-old Norway international before the transfer deadline.

Brugge are finalizing a deal for Berge after agreeing personal terms with the player.

Sheffield United are working to find a replacement for their star midfielder and are confident of doing so.

The 24-year-old was part of the starting line-up for the Blades’ 4-0 win over Reading on Tuesday August 30.

The Norway international provided the assist for Iliman Ndiaye’s goal.

The midfielder has made eight appearances for the South Yorkshire club so far this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists in those outings.

Berge currently has two years on his contract at Bramall Lane.

He joined Sheffield United from KRC Genk in 2020.

The defensive midfielder made 34 appearances for Paul Heckingbottom’s side last season.

During those outings, he scored six goals and provided four assists.

The Championship club made five new signings this summer.

There are three arrivals in midfield, including James McAtee and Tommy Doyle from the Man City youth team.

Brugge meanwhile is currently third in the Belgian Pro League.

The Belgian club will face Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Champions League group stage on Wednesday (September 7).

The team have already strengthened their midfield options this summer with Casper Nielsen from Union Saint-Gilloise and Raphael Onyedika from FC Midtjylland.

In other news, sources have told this site that Callum Robinson is undergoing a medical in Cardiff City after the West Brom deal was agreed.
