Fair Haven Garden Club Awards Scholarship to Sara Merton

The Fair Haven Garden Club awarded its annual scholarship to Sara Merton, a graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School and a resident of Fair Haven. The award was presented as part of the Senior High School Awards Program.

The scholarship is presented to a resident of Fair Haven who plans to attend an accredited college and major in horticulture, botany, environmental science, landscaping, or related academic fields.

Merton plans to major in global studies with a concentration in environmental sustainability and policy. While at RFH, Merton served as president of the Environmental Club and founded “Save Our Shore,” a beach cleanup program that collected and removed over 300 pounds of trash from Sandy Hook beaches. She was also an exceptional university student.

In addition to a student’s intended academic studies, the Garden Club awards the scholarship based on a written statement outlining the individual’s interests and achievements in related fields, academic transcript, and college activities. student.
