There are reports that Crystal Palace are the ‘big favourites’ to sign Man Utd defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka on loan this summer.

Wan-Bissaka rose through the ranks at Crystal Palace. He made a name for himself in the 2018/19 campaign playing 46 times in all competitions.

His form that season tempted Man Utd to sign him for £45m plus a further £5m in add-ons.

The right-back was key in his first two seasons at Old Trafford but fell down the pecking order last term. He hasn’t played a role in any of their last five Premier League games.

Last month it was revealed that Man Utd are ‘open to offers’ for the defender because it “does not appear” in Erik ten Hag’s plans.

90min report now that Crystal Palace are “the big favourites” to sign Wan-Bissaka and that he is “in pole position to secure his services”.

It is understood United’s preference is to let the full-back leave on loan. The report adds that Palace are also closing in on signing England goalkeeper Sam Johnstone on a free transfer.

Somewhere else, Man Utd would like to bring a new senior player to the club this summer after several departures.

Edinson Cavani, Lee Grant, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba will all leave the Red Devils at the end of this month when their contracts expire.

This gives new permanent Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag some leeway in the transfer market, with the Dutchman eyeing a number of new faces this summer.

And GiveMeSport claim Man Utd ‘want to sign at least one player aged 30 or over’ as they ‘want a new senior player to come in’ after losing Mata, Matic and Cavani for next season.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Phil Jones are the only two players over 29 and under Ten Hag, Man Utd players can expect ‘changes in almost every element of the team’.

Former Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen is a possibility as Ten Hag looks to ensure there is ‘enough experience on the pitch to help deal with difficult times’.

The report adds:

“Outside the club there may be concerns about whether they missed out on Eriksen’s best years, but inside the club that is not the case.

“His mindset and professionalism could be the key to ushering the team into a new era with 37-year-old Ronaldo.”
