Manchester City are working ‘seriously and intensively’ on signing Erling Haaland – The club will ‘put more money’ on the table than Real Madrid

Despite the January transfer window signing of Julian Alvarez from River Plate, Manchester City’s desire to sign a top striker in the next summer market is likely to remain unchanged.

Pep Guardiola and his team of behind-the-scenes staff have adjusted accordingly this season, after their failure to replace Sergio Aguero at the club due to lack of breakthrough in protracted and frustrating talks with Tottenham over Harry Kane.

However, their energy when it comes to pursuing their new number one striker target was highlighted in a new report from Madrid this week, largely due to the competition the Etihad club will likely face from Real. Madrid for Haaland.

According to information from Sergio Valentin of Libertad Digital, Manchester City was ‘work seriously and intensely‘ on signing Erling Haaland for ‘a long moment‘.

Interestingly, and would have from the point of view of those at Real Madrid, there is a strong expectation that Manchester City’put more money‘ on the table for the Norway international than any of the other potential suitors for the player.

Manchester City’s financial strength relative to their positioning in the race for Erling Haaland is unlikely to come as a surprise, with many supporters expecting the club to provide the biggest outlay they have on a striker this summer.

Elsewhere in terms of attacking options, the profiles of players who could walk straight into the Manchester City squad and produce goals are rare, particularly following Dusan Vlahovic’s move to Juventus in January.

However, Manchester City will more than likely have a shortlist of alternative options in place before the summer, and Julian Alvarez should certainly not be ruled out as being on that list.
