Manchester United seek new manager as Premier League club ‘push’ for £18m star – Omar Garrick

Welcome to the united in my mind daily recap, where we look at some of the best Manchester United stories you may have missed.

It has been a positive few days for Manchester United fans, who have seen the team rise to fourth place and a Champions League spot.

United are already looking for their next permanent manager, despite the positivity.

As we approach the final week of the January transfer window, United are still linked with moves. Still, it looks like there will be a few departures as a Premier League club look to sign one of United’s midfielders ‘within hours’.

Anthony Martial is looking increasingly likely that he will leave the club, and reports from Italy suggest Juventus are now leading the race for his signature.

New manager race

MEN reported last week that United had begun their search for a permanent manager, and that report is now being picked up by other parts of the media.

Athleticism report that the names being considered are Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag, Luis Enrique and Julian Lopetegui.

One factor United are considering is candidates who have experience working in big European teams, and the names above would satisfy that criteria.

Opinion: All the managers mentioned would be decent appointments, but United would have to leave no stone unturned for Mauricio Pochettino or Erik ten Hag. Ten Hag is my personal pick, but Pochettino would also be a great addition.

Premier League club ‘pushing’ for £18m star

As the January transfer window nears its final week, it looks like Manchester United will be busy, but not with income.

United need to cut their squad, and with reports of discontent in the dressing room, it would be best if the club sent some of the unwanted players.

The one who falls into this category is Jesse Lingard. He’s been a good servant at United, but he just hasn’t gotten the playing time he deserves.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has suggested Newcastle United will push to sign Lingard (valued at £18million by “in the coming hours”.

Opinion : It would be in both parties’ interest for Jesse Lingard to leave United, and I hope he has a successful career elsewhere. It would be nice if the club could get some money for him, but even if it’s a loan, let him go.

Juventus ‘ahead’ in the martial race

Another player who looks like he could leave the club is Frenchman Anthony Martial. He came on as a substitute in United’s 1-0 win over West Ham on Saturday and looked sharp.

However, it’s been well documented that Martial wants to leave the club, and it’s not wise to keep players on a team when they don’t want to play for the badge.

Juventus are believed to be in the lead to sign him, battling competition from Sevilla.

Tutomercatoweb claims the Serie A giants are favorites for a deal as they have the financial muscle to contribute to his hefty wage demands. Sevilla don’t want to pay any of his wages which has been a stumbling block for them.

Opinion: Despite some negative opinions about Anthony Martial, I only wish him the best as he continues his career. Juventus seems like a good decision as they need a striker. he will do well in Italy.
