The COUNTRY’s first-ever single-brand sports car series will be launched this year as Mazda Philippines, Manila Sports Car Club (MSCC) and Clark International Speedway (CIS) collaborate for the 2022 MSCC Miata Spec series. The series will feature 20 cars brand-new, track-ready Mazda MX-5 open-top sports cars that will be raced exclusively by MSCC members.

Four race weekends will be held starting June 11 at Clark International Speedway. The other three race dates are August 27, October 22 and November 26.

All MSCC Miata Spec series cars will be raced with Skyactiv-G 2.0-liter engines and Skyactiv six-speed manual transmissions. Each car’s suspension components have been upgraded and reinforced with coilovers and CUSCO Sport Chassis Braces to maximize handling and performance on the track while ensuring handling on the road.

A custom stainless steel exhaust system, developed by local company Drift Xaust, maximizes airflow and enhances the aggressive racing note emanating from the MX-5’s 181 horsepower engine. A Sparco competition steering wheel, racing seat, harness and safety net, and a new Cusco racing roll bar are all installed in each car to ensure driver control and safety on and off the track.
