Marcus Rashford is the club’s next odds as a striker given Manchester United’s future

Newcastle United are favorites to sign Marcus Rashford this summer after it was revealed the Manchester United striker is considering his future at Old Trafford.

The Manchester Evening News reported on Monday that Rashford is considering his place at United after being left out of the starting XI again in Sunday’s 4-1 loss to Manchester City. A defeat that saw United drop out of the top four.

Rashford’s exclusion was particularly surprising because, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani unavailable, he was the team’s only striker. However, Ralf Rangnick opted to play Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes in forward positions instead and launched Antony Elanga on him as well.

It’s understood the 24-year-old is training well and in good spirits but admits he hasn’t been playing well enough lately. Yet just two Premier League starts in the last 11 games have become frustrating for Rashford, whose contract expires in 2023 although United have the option of extending it for a further year.

With Rashford’s future now in doubt, speculation has begun as to which club he could join this summer should he decide to leave his boyhood club. Newcastle, who can now compete for such a high caliber player following his Saudi-backed takeover, are 4/1 favourites.

Premier League rivals Tottenham come second at 6/1. The rest of the top five favorites consist of clubs outside of England, with Inter, Barcelona and Juventus being the most likely according to Betfair.

The odds of signing Marcus Rashford this summer:

  • Newcastle: 4/1
  • Tottenham: 6/1
  • Inter: 8/1
  • Barcelona: 10/1
  • Juventus: 12/1
