To accompany the launch of the Merrell Hiking Club, the brand has announced the second generation of its flagship hiking sneaker for women, Bravado
ROCKFORD, Mich., August 18, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Merrell®, the world’s leading outdoor footwear brand, has launched its women-centric Hiking Club to provide inspiration and connection to the outdoors through a digital community.
“Merrell is leading the hiking revolution into the mainstream, and we recognize that the needs of female hikers are quite diverse – right down to the anatomy of their feet,” said Lindsey Lindemulder, brand marketing director at Merrell. “We saw the critical demand for shared expertise and good product design, and built a community around that idea to connect, empower and inform female hikers.”
Merrell has joined forces with its pioneers and key partners, including Erin McGrady, Archer Tiaraand Shana Joseph, among other things, to revive the American community. The brand will continue to grow the club globally through its partners, local groups and communities to share their expertise and engage with hikers.
The Merrell Hiking Club started in Europethe Middle Eastand Africa (EMEA) in December 2021 and has since expanded its reach to Canada and United States. The EMEA group reached an audience of over 630,000 hikers online. There are 24 organized urban, suburban and adventure hikes across EMEA and Canada25 of which are expected to launch in the United States in the coming year.
To continue making the outdoors accessible to everyone, Merrell has used its innovation and technology to introduce the second generation of its beloved women’s Bravada hiking sneakers. The Bravada 2 was designed with a purpose and every layer of the shoe was designed to provide support for the average female foot. It is the most durable Merrell Bravada nowadays.
Innovative new features of the women’s specific hiking boot include:
- A wider toe box
- Additional arch support
- Narrower heel
- Recycled materials on laces, mesh lining and removable EVA foam
“Customer experience is about finding the right fit in hiking boots and having the right resources and the right equipment,” Lindemulder said. “Women have been vastly underrepresented in the outdoor space and in shoe design. In fact, many women don’t even know that their shoes weren’t designed with a woman’s foot structure in mind. The Merrell Trail Club and the advanced technology of the Bravada 2 helps solve the problem that many women face when looking to get out.”
The Bravada 2 was recently honored with a 2022 SELF Certified Sneaker Award for Best Low Top Hiking Shoe. SELF editors and experts rigorously test each shoe considered during a variety of activities to find the best fit, comfort, performance and style.
“Our efforts to get more women outdoors are an extension of the More Less campaign – demonstrating that the best form of self-care has always been quite simple: get out there and get moving,” Lindemulder said.
