Fede Valverde, Real Madrid midfielder was cited by Montevideo saying that if he could sign a player at the Santiago Bernabeu, he wanted Tottenham star Rodrigo Bentancur. Both are teammates for Uruguay.
Bentancur, 24, has made his mark at Spurs since joining the club on a permanent basis from Juventus in January. With 18 games for Spurs already, he’s become a crucial part of the squad – and quite a creative one, too.
In his last three Premier League appearances, he has made three assists, including two in a 5-0 win over Norwich. He’s made his £18m fee look like a bargain since agreeing a four-and-a-half-year contract with Spurs.
Bentancur is only 24, but he already has 259 club appearances – and 49 more for his country. Valverde is an admirer of a player who surprised even Dimitar Berbatov with his form – and he wants it at Real Madrid.

Valverde wants Tottenham star Bentancur in Madrid
It would be a huge blow. What Bentancur gives Spurs, as Cristian Romero and Dejan Kulusevski do, is mass experience at a young age. To have more than 300 professional matches under his belt at 24 years old is incredible.
Madrid might want another midfielder this summer. Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are well over 30 years old. There is a considerable difference in quality between the three starters, as well as Casemeiro, and the Madrid substitute.
Bentancur would fill that gap and even though he would have to play cover for Kroos and Modric initially, he could be the future for this midfielder. But Spurs need to keep him, and at the moment there doesn’t seem to be any danger of selling him.
