El Desmarque claimed that Bryan Gil remains Valencia’s number one priority, but Tottenham have asked the Spanish club to wait for the time being.

spanish journalist Hector Gomez revealed earlier this week that despite Valencia’s efforts to re-sign Gil on loan, Spurs have not given the go-ahead for the winger’s departure.

Sky Sports then revealed on their live transfer blog (August 16, 10:15) that the former Sevilla player impressed Antonio Conte in training and could stay at Tottenham.

If the latest update from El Desmarque is to be believed, Gil still remains Valencia’s main target to replace Gonçalo Guedes, who has joined Wolves.

However, the report claims that Tottenham have ‘asked for time’ as the North London club are still waiting to see if another club make a lucrative offer for the 21-year-old.

It is explained that Valencia can only sign the Spain international on loan with an option to buy and that Los Che might not even be able to cover the winger’s full salary due to his financial situation hard.

El Desmarque also add that Gil’s priority is to return to Mestalla following his loan spell at the club in the second half of last season.

Gennaro Guttuso’s men are said to turn their attention to Barcelona’s Abde Ezzalzouli, Watford’s Ignacio Pussetto and Lille’s Timothy Weah if a deal for the Spurs man doesn’t materialise.

Boosts web opinion

I expect Gil to be loaned out before the window closes and I wouldn’t be surprised if the winger ends up returning to Valencia as it is his preference. If Guttuso’s men didn’t think they were going to get the Spurs winger, they would probably have already started negotiating other alternatives.
