The 2022 Rockport Garden Club Scholarships were recently awarded at a private ceremony for graduates and their families at Camden-Rockport High School. Two worthy recipients received a total of $4,800.

Allison Gill of Tenants Harbour, who attends St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY, and is majoring in environmental science, received $4,200.

Delia Cognard of Camden also received $4,200. She is a second-year student at Bishop’s University, Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, majoring in geography. After college, she wants to join the Peace Corps for two years to help establish sustainable agricultural systems in underdeveloped countries.

RGC scholarships are made up of 25% of their club’s net income and other designated or donated funds. They are awarded for the pursuit of degrees related to horticulture or the environment to seniors graduating from Camden Hills Regional High School and/or adults living in the community, who choose to return to college or other types of continuing education.

Marilyn McWilliams, President of the RGC Scholarships, says awarding our annual scholarships to the community is a rewarding, satisfying, and long-standing mission of the Rockport Garden Club.
