Srinagar, Nov 03 (KNS): SAEINDIA Collegiate Club held the first logo design competition at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar on Thursday.
The event was chaired by the NIT Director, Prof. (Dr) Rakesh Sehgal, who was the chief guest, while the Registrar of the Institute, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari, was the guest of honor at this opportunity.
Club faculty coordinator Dr. HS Pali along with all the organizers and committee members attended the mega event congratulation ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, the Director of NIT, Prof. Sehgal, said the main motive for such an event was to educate students about graphic design and enhance their creativity.
He appreciated the organizers and said such activities are the need of the hour for global development.
Professor Sehgal said that this club will continue to act as a platform for students where they can showcase their talent and skills to become professionals.
He emphasized that it is up to members and students to move the club forward by organizing awareness workshops on and off campus.
The Registrar of the Institute, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari in his address highlighted the importance of graphic design in the business world and said such events will encourage students to think outside the box.
“Every day more companies are building their in-house creative teams and the need and demand for graphic and visual communication designers is growing rapidly,” he said.
Professor Bukhari said graphic design is an effective way to promote any information in an attractive manner. Graphic design in India is becoming an increasingly relevant and sought-after profession, he said.
On the occasion, Dr. HS Pali also highlighted the effectiveness of the event. He encouraged students to participate in such events aimed at bringing out their leadership skills and technical growth.
He said that all participants had the chance to share their opinion, thoughts and suggestions. It gave self-taught designers an informal education in the design platform, Dr. Pali said.
The event saw the active participation of students from different batches.
Entries were taken in online mode and winners were chosen based on various criteria. Later, NIT Director, Prof. Sehgal announced the winners of the competition.
The first position was won by Dhruv Sharma, 2nd year B.Tech student in Mechanical Engineering, while the second position was taken by Deepak Tiwari, 2nd year B.Tech student in Mechanical Engineering.
The winners received certificates and a cash prize of 500? each as well as an annual membership to SAEINDIA.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the director, all the judges, organizers and committee members for making this event a huge success.
The student committee members as well as the performers were also appreciated for their efforts and hard work. (KNS)
