Sharks Swim Club, Inc – Houston, TX. Seeking assistant coach – full or part time

Sharks Swim Club Over 200 members, located in Friendswood, Tx. (SE Houston) is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Age Group Coach to help our team and swimmers reach their ultimate potential in skill development and competition readiness while fostering an environment of creative, positive and healthy team. The scope of this position is for groups, primarily 9-13 year olds, but may vary depending on the qualifications/experience of the coach hired as well as the growth/prosperity of our program. We have a free lesson and food program that leads into our competitive program. We practice primarily from the Friendswood High School-13 lane indoor facility as well as other nearby facilities including water 50 yards away. This is an opportunity to work with highly qualified and diverse coaches. The club is coach run/directed with a parent group and support board of 5 mostly non-team members.

Essential elements include:

  • Three or more years of competitive coaching experience with a USA Swimming member club or equivalent. Be a permanent resident of the United States
  • A university degree is preferred. *
  • Current USA Swimming coaching credentials and adherence to the USA Swimming Code of Conduct.
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal and communication skills

Qualifications and expectations of coaches include:

  • The candidate must have a background that exemplifies excellent communication and motivational skills with children, considering a variety of social, emotional and physical attributes.
  • Passion for working with swimmers of all ages and abilities – from development to senior level.
  • Administrative tasks assigned by Head Coach: Tasks such as Meet-related duties, check-ins, working knowledge with Team Unify, and group/team communications.
  • Enthusiastic with a desire for continuous training in coaching and sharing.
  • Can work well independently and in a team environment.

Compensation is competitive within Gulf LSC and based on the experience and administrative skills the individual brings to the team, as well as paid vacation, professional development including clinics and training trips. Coaches receive reimbursement for competition fees, professional certifications and coach memberships. Additional income potential may be available through discussion and employment contract.

The goal is to fill the position by April and start during that month.
