Crystal Palace have reportedly given up hope of signing Conor Gallagher from Chelsea next season.
The 22-year-old midfielder is currently enjoying a brilliant season-long loan spell with Palace, which was the stepping stone for him to break into the senior England team.
However, it looks unlikely that he will return to Selhurst Park when his loan spell expires this summer.
According to Daily mailGallagher is determined to return to parent club Chelsea and break into the first team at Stamford Bridge.
The report explains that Palace would like to sign the box-to-box midfielder but now accept it’s a ‘no-go’.
Gallagher, who is a Blues academy product, is someone Chelsea fans are extremely excited to have back.
He has scored eight goals and five assists so far this season in a Palace shirt, with many boldly comparing his style of play to Frank Lampard.
Ian Wright has urged Palace to try to make Gallagher their player permanently. His future, however, seems destined to be at the bridge.
Of course, there’s a lot to love about Gallagher’s game when it comes to his technique, game intelligence and goalscoring prowess.
However, his relentless energy and pressure on the ball is arguably the most memorable thing you take away from watching him in the flesh.
He looks tailor-made to join Thomas Tuchel’s side next season so it’s an absolutely vital summer ahead where he needs to impress.
