Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo continues to be linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Previously, we covered several reports that the Londoners are keen on signing the 23-year-old Italian midfielder and Roma are holding out for a fee of around €50m.
Journalist Daniele Miceli of Sport Mediaset have now revealed that Tottenham are the only team that can afford to sign the talented young attacking midfielder this summer.
The player has also been linked with Juventus in recent weeks but a summer move seems quite unlikely.
Spurs could certainly use a quality midfield builder, but a move for Zaniolo might have to wait until the Londoners can offload some of their fringe players. The likes of Harry Winks and Tanguy Ndombele are said to be surplus to requirements.
Besides, Sport Mediaset’s report claims that Zaniolo isn’t actively looking to move away from Roma and is ready to stay at the Italian club next season.
Besides that, Roma could also open contract negotiations with the midfielder in the coming months.
Miceli was quoted by TuttoJuve saying: “Zaniolo seems to be geared towards staying with Roma today, his teammates and Mourinho have asked him to. The only team that can break the balance is Tottenham because they have the financial wherewithal to reach the 50 million euros demanded by Roma In September, the margins could reopen to discuss the renewal of the contract.
