West Ham want to sign ‘monster’ ace currently owned by PL club

West Ham are monitoring Konstantinos Mavropanos’ progress ahead of a possible summer transfer, according to soccer london.

The Hammers are expected to strengthen their squad during the summer transfer window, with the team suffering from big defensive injuries this summer against Angelo Ogbonna, Kurt Zouma and Issa Diop this season.

Now Mavropanos has emerged as a potential target after shining while on loan at Stuttgart this season while on loan from Premier League rivals Arsenal.

Football London are reporting that Borussia Dortmund and West Ham are monitoring the Greek defender’s progress and that Stuttgart are set to make his loan move permanent after which he could be sold for a profit.

Arsenal are said to have secured a 10% sell clause in that deal with Stuttgart, which would also earn them some cash should the Hammers take action.

Central

Mavropanos had a tough time during his short Premier League spell with Arsenal, but has developed into a very solid defender while on loan.

He is tall, strong, powerful, dominant in the air and can also play with the ball at his feet and would fit in well with the type of team David Moyes likes to build, having been described as a ‘freak’ by Pellegrini Matarazzo.

However, with Stuttgart likely to be looking for big money to let him go, the Hammers would probably be better off looking elsewhere to strengthen their back line.

There are plenty of gems and quality young defenders in Europe right now and the club have always been on top of things when it comes to the scouting department.

For Moyes, spending big on Mavropanos would mean he’s completely sold on him and that seems unlikely, but it’s certainly a deal to watch.
